Anyuan Rolling Mill's Reheating Furnace Flue Gas Ultra-Low Emission Retrofit Project
1 Project Overview
Ping'an Iron and Steel Anyuan Rolling Mill currently has three reheating furnaces for high wire, high rod, and rod-wire production. The flue gas from each furnace does not meet the requirements for ultra-low emissions without purification treatment. Therefore, through a public tender process conducted by the group, Shanghai Xuanding Metallurgical Technology Group Co., Ltd. undertook the project for the transformation of the reheating furnace flue gas to achieve ultra-low emissions at Anyuan Rolling Mill. This project involves the construction of three sets of dry desulfurization systems using fixed-bed technology, along with supporting auxiliary facilities. The project follows an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracting model, with a contract duration of 120 days.
The project started on 10 October 2022 and was completed on 19 February 2023. The actual construction period was 116 days, of which 17 days were suspended from 6 November to 22 November 2022 due to the silent control of the Pingxiang epidemic, and the system was successfully put into operation with emission indicators meeting the standards.

3 Desulfurization Process Route for the Reheating Furnace at Ping'an Steel
3.1 Process Flow
The flue gas desulfurization system for each reheating furnace treats coal smoke and empty smoke separately. The main process flow is as follows:
1. Desulfurization system for the rod-wire reheating furnace:
Flue gas from the rod-wire reheating furnace: Coal smoke flue gas → Coal smoke induced draft fan → Fixed-bed desulfurization tower → Desulfurization fan → Coal smoke chimney

3.2 Charging system
Each flue gas desulfurization system is equipped with one set of charging equipment and one set of roof dust removal equipment:
The charging system consists of: Loading desulfurizing agent in ton bags → Feeding with an overhead electric hoist at the top of the storage bin → Loading hopper → Inside the desulfurization tower
The roof dust removal equipment consists of: Dust suction pipes and valves at the loading port → Collected to a manifold → Dust collector → Desulfurization fan → Chimney
3.3 Discharging system
Each flue gas desulfurization system is equipped with a set of bottom discharge equipment:
Desulfurization tower cone section → Electric slide gate valve → Star-type ash discharge valve → Forklift transport in ton bags
The discharge outlet is kept at a sufficient distance from the bottom surface to allow for enough storage space, facilitating the movement of the unloading vehicle's bucket.
3.4 Online monitoring system
Each flue gas desulfurization system is equipped with an online monitoring system at the inlet and outlet chimneys. This system allows for clear and visual monitoring of the sulfur content in the inlet flue gas, as well as the levels of SO2 and particulate matter in the flue gas discharged into the atmosphere after desulfurization treatment. This enables the determination of whether there is a need to replace or replenish desulfurizing agents.
