Project Introduction
As industrialization progresses, air pollution has become an increasingly significant concern. During the production process in steel enterprises, a substantial amount of pollutants are generated while rolling billets on the rolling line, resulting in a harsh working environment and contributing to environmental pollution. Additionally, during the smelting process, pollutants are released during the hot quenching of steel slag, leading to poor working conditions and environmental contamination.

Environmental Requirements
On January 9, 2020, the China Association of Environmental Protection Industry issued the "Technical Guide for Ultra-Low Emission Transformation in Steel Enterprises," which explicitly states that rolling mill dust removal facilities should be constructed.

The Ministry of Ecology and Environment, together with other five ministries, jointly issued the "Opinions on Promoting the Implementation of Ultra-Low Emissions in the Steel Industry" (Huanqi [2019] No. 35);
In June 2020, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued the urgent "Technical Guidelines for Formulating Emergency Emission Reduction Measures for Key Industries during Heavy Pollution Weather" (Huanqi [2020] No. 340), all of which explicitly stipulate requirements.
For a C-level enterprise, the requirements are as follows
The precision rolling machine in the rolling mill workshop should use plastic sintering plate dust removal or spray suppression for dust control. For the waste gas from steel slag hot quenching, high-efficiency wet dust collectors should be used.

Smoke Characteristics
Solid Waste Particulates
The smoke generated during the rolling process primarily consists of FeO and Fe2O3, accounting for over 96% of the total dust content. The remaining components include SO2, MnO2, P2O5, H2O, as well as small amounts of C and S. The dust concentration is ≤5g/m³, with particle sizes ranging from 0.1 to 100 µm. Dust particles smaller than 10 µm typically constitute 15-30% of the total, depending on the product being rolled. The smoke exhibits diffusibility, hydrophilicity, adhesiveness, and corrosiveness.
Oil and Gas
The bearings and guide rails of the rolling mill use specially lubricated oils. Released oil and gas mix with smoke and steam. If not collected, they disperse around the equipment and production platforms, causing secondary pollution, increasing slip hazards during operation and maintenance, and affecting equipment aesthetics and lifespan.
Steam
During the rolling process, substantial steam is generated as rollers cool the workpieces. While less noticeable in summer, this steam pervades the entire workspace in winter. It significantly impacts workers' health, potentially causing inspection components on the rolling line to malfunction due to leaks. Moreover, this steam corrodes equipment and components, shortening their lifespan and posing risks of electrical leakage in some cases.

Rolling Mill Dust Removal
Shandong Xiwang Special Steel Co., Ltd., in its Small Bar Workshop, has two production lines with a total of 36 dust emission points: 6 for rough rolling, 6 for intermediate rolling, and 6 for finishing rolling. The requirement is for a smoke collection efficiency of not less than 95% and a dust emission concentration in the discharged smoke of less than 10 mg/m³. This project adopts a curved plate wire mesh wet dust removal scheme.
Slag Quenching Dust Removal
In the slag processing workshop of Shandong Xiwang Special Steel Co., Ltd., there are a total of five hot slag quenching pits used for handling high-temperature furnace slag produced during steelmaking. The slag quenching process involves covering and spraying a large amount of water onto the hot slag, allowing the high-temperature slag to exchange heat with and undergo chemical reactions with water under the cover in the pit. This process causes physical and chemical reactions that lead to the fragmentation and differentiation of slag chunks under the combined effects of physical thermal stress and chemical reactions. Additionally, it generates a significant amount of steam and fine dust particles entrained with slag explosions.
These dust-laden vapors exit into the atmosphere through natural vents at the top of the pit walls and chimneys, causing certain pollution to the local atmospheric environment. This project adopts a curved plate wire mesh wet dust removal scheme.
