3. Burner
Burners for natural gas;
In Zone 1 and Zone 3, top axial burners are used, while in Zone 2 and Zone 4, bottom axial burners are used. Among the burners in Zone 4, 5 of them are equipped with automatic ignition and flame monitoring devices.
Zone 5 and Zone 6 use flat flame burners;
In Zone 7 and Zone 8, the original bottom axial burners have been changed to side burners, arranged on the lower side wall of the soaking section, and all of them are equipped with automatic ignition and flame monitoring devices.
Low nitrogen oxide burners are selected for the combustion system to control nitrogen oxide emissions within 100PPM (converted based on 6% oxygen content, according to local standards in Taiwan).
Natural gas flat flame burner
Air enters the burner from the side, passes through a circular ring with tangential holes, and enters the burner brick at high speed, forming a rotating airflow.Natural gas enters the burner at low speed from the central top of the burner, encounters the exit baffle, and enters the burner brick at a specific angle, mixing and combusting with the air.Due to the wall attachment effect of the rotating flame, a stable flame disc is formed on the furnace roof.
Such a structure can form a stable central negative pressure zone near the burner nozzle, continuously recirculating the combustion products to the burner nozzle, ensuring continuous ignition and stable flame. A reasonable burner brick structure ensures a uniform distribution of the rotating mixed airflow velocity, which is beneficial for the uniform combustion of the burner and the uniform distribution of temperature fields. The organic combination of the burner and the burner brick ensures that the formed flame has a large spread area, small dark core, strong rigidity, and stability.
The burner adopts a unique center wind stabilization technique, which effectively ensures flame stability for slow flame propagation of natural gas.

The adjustable flame burner is a low-nitrogen environmental-friendly combustion device. The overall design incorporates the following features: inner annular gas flow, divided into several streams by a deflecting plate and uniformly ejected in parallel to the axis. The secondary air is supplied in three stages: approximately 5% of the center air is sprayed from the center of the inner annulus, ensuring maximum flame length, rigidity, and strength. The remaining secondary air is ejected from the outer annulus in a combination of swirling and straight streams. The primary air is sprayed at a certain angle for flame stabilization, accelerated air and gas mixing, and ensuring strong flame rigidity without drifting. The secondary air is sprayed parallel to the axis outside the primary air annulus, extending the mixing time with the gas to achieve the required flame length. The special outlet structure of the gas deflecting plate forms a negative pressure recirculation zone, ensuring that the burner flame does not extinguish at maximum capacity. The swirling primary air, while combusting with the gas, can effectively entrain surrounding combustion products, reducing oxygen content and combustion temperature during the combustion process, thus achieving the goal of reducing nitrogen oxide formation.

There are four burners in Zone 4 and five burners, as well as six burners in Zones 7 and 8, each equipped with automatic ignition and flame detection devices.
Each set of automatic ignition and flame detection device includes:

Ignition solenoid valve
Center wind
The center wind is derived from the cold air manifold at the outlet of the blower and is delivered to the top flat burners and side adjustable burners of the furnace to maintain flame rigidity and strength.
One manual ball valve is installed on the center wind pipeline in front of each burner.
4. Automation
A new PLC system will be implemented for combustion control.
The PLC system will be based on Siemens S7-414 series.
The main rack of the PLC system includes power module, CPU module, and Ethernet communication module.
The maintenance room will have an engineering station, while the control room will have an engineering station and a HMI station.
The combustion control system is designed to accommodate interface and connection functions for secondary level integration.
A local ET200 station will be established.
